Join me and my fellow photographer, George Imizian, in October for a weeklong workshop in Yerevan, Armenia. We are two passionate image-makers intimately connected to the city and this immersive workshop is an invitation to experience Yerevan through photography that goes beyond the postcard image.
In this inaugural workshop offered in partnership with ProjectSAVE Armenia, we will guide you through daily image reviews and feedback to create a small body of work in the vibrant capital of Armenia. Whether you are looking to refine your visual storytelling or explore the fine points of documentary and street photography, the workshop will help you in developing your photographic voice.

Highlights
✜ Immersive City Exploration With its vibrant street life, distinctive characters, and rich contrasts, Yerevan offers an extraordinary setting for documentary and street photography. Participants work on assigned or self-directed projects across the city and its surrounding areas✜ Personalized GuidanceThe program brings together a cohort of 10 photographers, including two Project Save: Armenia Fellows. The workshop opens with a portfolio review (15–20 images) to understand each participant's interests and approach. This shapes a personalized direction for the week and is open to all levels, from students to seasoned photographers.
✜ Daily EditingEach evening, the group reconvenes for editing and critique sessions focused on the day's work. These discussions encourage constructive feedback and a deeper understanding of image selection, sequencing, and developing a visual narrative.
✜ A Cohesive Final SeriesOn the final day, participants edit and refine their strongest photographs into a cohesive series. Together the group focuses on sequencing and presentation, shaping each body of work into a compelling visual narrative that reflects each participant's perspective and experience of the city.
How the Week Unfolds
October 11-18
The week opens with a review of 15–20 images per participant, helping the leaders tailor the direction of the workshop to each photographer's interests and approach.
Day 1 – Portfolio ReviewParticipants explore the city solo, in pairs, or as a small group during the day. Each evening the group reconvenes for editing and critique — reviewing the day's work and deepening understanding of image selection, sequencing, and narrative.
Days 2-6 – Photographing & Daily CritiqueThe final day is dedicated to editing and refining the strongest images into a cohesive series, with a focus on sequencing and presentation.
